I like to find beauty in things that might not be evident, and then make them come alive in my paintings, usually with a twist - making the ordinary extraordinary, the unknown known, and the obvious appear in a different light.

I’ve always been a visual person. When I listen to people, their words often turn into images in my mind. When I paint, I use all my senses, translating my ideas into visual imagery, moving from conceptual imagination to artistic reality.

Before I start a painting, an image suddenly comes to me, and I get a familiar feeling like butterflies in my stomach; that is when I know I’ve got my next painting.

Like pieces of a puzzle, everything starts coming together in my mind. I see the key elements that will bring the uniqueness to this piece. Will it be 3D? What colours will predominate? Then, I move to my canvas, take hold of my brushes, pour the colours on my tray and let the process of painting begin.

Take for example, one of my latest artworks:  Eggsplosion!  Here, I began playing with words and landed on a pun which I decided to paint, bringing to light a beautiful explosion of colours and a simple and ordinary fried egg.  It quickly moved from the ordinary to the extraordinary, as it was not just an egg; it also became an eye looking back at the viewer, floating in the middle of space, capturing attention towards the center of this artwork, like the Sun that orbits the center of the galaxy.

Eggsplosion!

Does my painting ever come out exactly as I imagined it? Not always, but that is the beauty of this process.

Inspiration is everywhere, you don’t need to force it. Just sit still, let it come to you, and express yourself.

In my case, I paint with bright colours because that is the closest expression of who I am and I like bringing colour to other people’s lives.

How do you find your inspiration?

How do you like to express who you are?

What inspires you?

What do you like to bring to other people’s lives?
